India is the country of festivals, One of them is Rakshabandhan. It is the famous festival of Hindu. It is also called Rakhi. It is celebrated annually on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. Rakhi or Rakshasutra in Rakshabandhan has the most importance. A Rakhi is made up from cotton thread, silk thread, to colorful arts and expensive items like gold or silver.

Rakshabandhan is the famous festival of siblings relationship. ‘Raksha’ means ‘Protection’ and ‘Bandhan’ means ‘Bound’. Thus Raksha Bandhan means “Bound to Protection”. On the day of Rakshabandhan, the sister apply tilak on her brother's forehead and ties a rakhi on their wrist and pray to God for the progress of their brother.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, the brothers give some gifts and sweets to their sister in exchange for Rakhi and give promise to protect lifelong. Rakshabandhan is a festival that makes the love of siblings stronger. 

There are many stories behind celebrating this festival, one of which is described in the Mahabharata. When Shri Krishna killed Shishupala with the Sudarshan Chakra, his finger was injured, after this Draupadi had torn her sari and tied it on the finger of Shri Krishna, And In return for this benevolence, Shri Krishna promised Draupadi to help in any crisis. 

That day was also the full moon of Shravan month. It is believed that since this day is celebrated as Rakshabandhan.Rakhi is the special day for every brother and sister. On this day, there is a happy atmosphere in the home. This festival is a symbol of love, care, togetherness and faith.

Speech and Essay Teachers day has been celebrated annually on 5th September since 1962 as the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.This day is celebrated to thank our teachers for their guidance.
